My transition to vegetarianism has taken a really long time. I started by giving up meat-on-bone in my childhood, then grew to also exclude all red meat when I was in high school. At the age of 22 years since I took my last bite of all meat. On my way back from a trip to northern Michigan on a cold snow-shoeing/camping weekend cold in February 2000, my friends and I stopped at McDonalds for dinner. I ordered Chicken McNuggets and French fries. As I ate my plate of fried-evil, I thought about how the chicken became a nugget. That was enough to throw me over the edge.
